Juvéderm
Juvéderm is a trade name for hyaluronic acid-based fillers manufactured by Allergan. This manufacturer has several products, each of them suitable for another problem/area. Our practice uses the ‘Voluma’, ‘Volbella’, and ‘Volift’ fillers.
Juvéderm ‘Voluma’
This filler has lifting properties, and has a thicker structure. Voluma is a good alternative to Radiesse. That product creates volume by stimulating the production of collagen. Radiesse fillers are also very good, but sometimes less effective in people who do not produce collagen so easily. That is often seen in men and women above a certain age.
Juvéderm ‘Volbella’
This is a good filler for areas that are prone to swelling during or after the treatment, such as lips. The Volbella filler causes less swelling, compared to other fillers in this category. That gives a shorter downtime, which is great for some treatment areas.
Juvéderm ‘Volift’
This filler has been manufactured with a special technology which combines several different hyaluronic acid particles. The result of this process is an ultra smooth gel that is safe and suitable for various wrinkles. After the injection, you do not feel or see the gel, which explains the resulting natural look.

Sunken temples
Juvéderm Volbella is very good to treat the temples; it gives an immediate effect. For particular problems the filler can be dissolved and is a very soft substance that can be easily injected. To fill sunken temples properly, you often need quite a lot of Juvéderm ‘Voluma’.
Cheek bones
Juvéderm Volbella is a special type of hyaluronic acid. It is ideal to treat the cheek bones; even a small quantity immediately gives a lifting effect. For particular problems the filler can be dissolved, making it very soft and easily injectable.
Jaw line
Juvéderm Volbella is very good for treating the jaw line; even a small quantity immediately gives a lifting effect. For particular problems the filler can be dissolved, making it very soft and easily injectable.
Lips
Juvéderm ‘Voluma’: This filler has excellent lifting properties, which makes it highly suitable for people who want to have a more drastic effect in their lips, or who expect a longer-lasting effect from their lip fillers. The result of this filler lasts longer than that of the average lip filler; moreover, it has a very lifting effect. Highly suitable for inward-curling lips. As the filler has been made to solve volume problems in your face, it is not subtle enough for most people, and the effect can be too extreme.
Juvéderm Volbella: this filler excels thanks to its spreadability; it has a really soft structure and does not attract a lot of water. As a result, patients hardly feel Juvéderm Volbella at all. It gives a very natural result. The product is less suitable for significant lip enhancement, and its lifting properties are negligible.
Marionette lines
Juvéderm is very good for treating the marionette lines; even a small quantity immediately gives a lifting effect. For particular problems the filler can be dissolved, making it very soft and easily injectable. It gives less volume than Radiesse.
Mouth corners
Juvéderm is very good for treating corners of the mouth; even a small quantity immediately gives a lifting effect. For particular problems the filler can be dissolved, making it very soft and easily injectable. Its volume-increasing effect is less compared to that achieved with Radiesse.
Nasolabial fold
Juvéderm is very good for treating the nasolabial fold; even a small quantity immediately gives a lifting effect. For particular problems the filler can be dissolved, making it very soft and easily injectable. Its volume-increasing effect is less compared to that achieved with Radiesse.
Tear troughs and bags under the eyes
Juvéderm ‘Voluma’: This filler has excellent lifting properties, and is therefore highly suitable for lifting bags under the eyes. Its effect lasts longer than the average hyaluronic acid and has been manufactured to solve volume problems in the face; sometimes, its effect can be too much, especially closer to the nose.
If your skin is very thin, the filler is not suitable for treating that part of the bags under your eyes that is closest to your nose.
Juvéderm ‘Volbella’: This filler excels thanks to its spreadability; it has a really soft structure and does not attract a lot of water. As a result, patients hardly feel Juvéderm Volbella at all. It gives a very natural result. The product is less suitable for large bags, and its lifting properties are negligible.
What result should I expect?
The result is immediately visible. The effect of Juvéderm Voluma will be visible for up to 18 months. The effect of Juvéderm Volift and Volbella will be visible for about 12 months.
Is it safe?
Juvéderm injections are safe if given by an experienced practitioner. Restylane can be used long term without affecting your general health.
What are the side effects?
The side effects seen most are swelling or bruising on the injection sites, headache or flu-like symptoms.
What are the risks?
The risks are negligible, if any.
